Race Report June 2015

All stars

We had a stellar line-up at the 3K on the Green this month, with a particularly strong set of ladies. Lyndsay Morrison returned to blitz her own course record and set a new one of 9.47. Chasing her down were Leslie Chisholm (10.00), and Kara Tait (10.12). These three girls are in fabulous shape and I am sure there is more to come for them this season.

Bellahouston Harriers were out in force, with an impressive 11 competitors. The Belle of the Bellas Erica Christie looked like she was on fine form as she flew down the finishing straight to cross the line in 12.19. Ahead of her, fellow club runners Steven Prentice (9.46) and David Mackintosh (9.42) put in some solid performances and Jack Arnold took victory (9.25).

Cambuslang meanwhile seems to have a never-ending supply of young talent. With the school summer holidays having officially started, today Drew Pollock was able to attend (10.08) along with his team mates Ross Stephen (9.30), Brendan Carey (9.42), and David Robertson (10.24). We also witnessed a well-tanned Charlie Thomson return to racing to grab third place (9.36). Apparently, warm weather training abroad has worked wonders!

Of the many familiar faces present 3K on the Green were particularly pleased to see super star veteran Joe Doyle running, representing Victoria Park. Joe finished in a very respectable 56th place out of 88 participants (12.13). We look forward to seeing Joe and everyone else again soon.
